Gamardi
The Homeland School Company is proposing a number of upgrades to facilities at Gamardi to support the community as well as teaching staff.
Current picture
We’re pleased to share that Gamardi School is in the final stages of registration, with our School Principal and first Classroom teacher now appointed and preparing for the school’s opening. We are also finalising teacher accommodation and a visitors’ campsite out in Gamardi that will comfortably support our staff.
Over the last few months, Elders and community members have been working together to develop a curriculum map to guide learning. They have also been reviewing and strengthening school policies to support a safe and place-based learning environment.
Alongside this work, Homeland School Company has successful secured NIAA funding to deliver an HSC On-Country Learning Project Pilot, as well as RJED funding which is creating new employment opportunities for people on the homelands. We are bringing together a team of cooks, bus drivers, cleaners and teaching assistants to ensure the school runs safely and reliably, allowing children to focus on learning on Country.
