Gamardi School is open!
We’ve got many great updates about our work which we’ll be uploading to our website very soon - keep your eyes peeled!
In the meantime, we’re pleased to share our Capability Statement here. For us, cultural safety and inclusivity sit at the centre of everything we do. At Gamardi School, Aboriginal children, families and staff learn, work and lead on Country without having to set aside their language, kinship, ceremony or knowledge.
Complementary to the day-to-day running of our school, Elders and community members have been working together to develop a curriculum map to guide learning. They have also been reviewing and strengthening school policies to support a safe and place-based learning environment.
Homeland School Company was also successful in securing NIAA funding to deliver an HSC On-Country Learning Project Pilot, as well as RJED funding which is creating new employment opportunities for people on the homelands. We’ve brought together a team of cooks, bus drivers, cleaners and teaching assistants to ensure the school runs safely and reliably, allowing children to focus on learning on Country.
